Chris Pratt mentions that he and his brother-in-law Robert F. Kennedy Jr. refrain from discussing politics during family dinners.

“I’ve had several chances to hang out with him in a purely family gathering atmosphere, and I've gotten along with him really well,” Pratt, 46, shared during the August 18 episode of Bill Maher’s podcast “Club Random.” “I think he’s awesome. He makes me laugh. I like him. I love him.”

The star of Guardians of the Galaxy became part of the Kennedy family in 2019 when he married Katherine Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver, is the offspring of Eunice Kennedy, who is the sister of both John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy Sr.

In terms of family relations, Pratt and RFK Jr. are cousins by marriage.

“When you align yourself with the most polarizing president in history, it’s reasonable to expect that you will be portrayed negatively. So I’m uncertain about what is true,” the actor commented on the controversial opinions of the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, which include inaccurate statements regarding vaccines.

Pratt elaborated, “It’s not like I sit down with Bobby and say, ‘So, let’s discuss this.’ We’re simply playing cards or engaging in Mafia or just enjoying each other’s company over dinner. I’m not there to probe him about which claims are valid.”

He noted, “There are certain initiatives he oversees that appear to have bipartisan support, like removing harmful toxins from our children’s food. I think that’s fantastic. If that can be accomplished, it’s remarkable.”

He continued, “I would hate to be so consumed with disdain for the president that any achievement of his administration triggers a negative reaction in me. To be like, ‘If they’re doing it, I want no part of it. I’d rather add bleach to my kids’ cereal myself!’ Let’s be sensible. There are definitely things that would be beneficial. I wish for all of them to be successful.”

Pratt described politics as a “cruel arena” and remarked that he has witnessed how one’s true character can starkly contrast with the image others portray, leading to the realization, “Wow, that’s just a fabrication.”

Pratt and Schwarzenegger, 35, are parents to daughters Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, as well as son Ford, who will turn 1 in November. Additionally, he has a 13-year-old son, Jack, with ex-wife Anna Faris, and he celebrated Jack’s milestone birthday over the weekend.

“I have a teenager???” he expressed on his Instagram Story on Sunday, August 17, accompanying family pictures. “Jack, I can’t believe you’re 13 today. I’ve seen you mature into an amazing young man, and I am genuinely proud of who you are becoming. I love you! Jesus is King! ❤️✝️.”
