The upcoming relocation of Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton has reportedly resulted in two families leaving their homes.

As stated in a report by People, released on Sunday, August 17, the royal couple's imminent move to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park has led to “two families” who previously resided nearby being “asked to vacate their homes in anticipation of the royal family's arrival.” The report indicates that these families were requested to relocate “earlier this summer” and have since moved to prepare for William, 43, and Kate, also 43, as they transition their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, from their current residence at Adelaide Cottage in England.

People highlighted that no eviction notices had been served, and the families have “relocated to similar or more suitable housing within the Great Park, with all individuals remaining in Crown Estate homes.”

The Daily Mail initially reported that the families were “not expecting” the request to move.

A representative from Kensington Palace informed Us on Saturday, August 16, that “the Wales family will change residences later this year” after residing in Adelaide Cottage for the last three years. The Sun revealed that a source close to the royals mentioned William and Kate are seeking a “fresh start” following Kate’s cancer diagnosis, her treatment, and subsequent remission.

Per the Daily Mail, the new home is an eight-bedroom “mansion” constructed 300 years ago. Reported features include a “chandelier-lit ballroom, tennis court, Venetian windows, and expansive grounds.”

Furthermore, it was noted that “new shrubs” and “privacy screens” have already been placed at the property in preparation for the couple’s move.

This new chapter coincides with Kate’s gradual return to her public engagements. Recently, her appearances have included attending the Wimbledon tennis tournament this summer and the annual Trooping the Colour parade. Kate had stepped back from public duties last year after being diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer, sharing her diagnosis in March 2024. She completed her chemotherapy treatment in September 2024 and announced in January that she was in remission.

In an Instagram update shared with her followers on January 14, Kate expressed gratitude to her medical team and The Royal Marsden hospital in London for “taking such good care of me over the past year.”

The message continued, “It is a relief to now be in remission. I remain focused on my recovery. As anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis understands, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
