Porsha Williams, a star from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, shared that she is currently in a relationship with a woman following the completion of her divorce from Simon Guobadia.
While attending CultureCon in New York City, which took place over the weekend of October 4-5, the 44-year-old Williams discussed her romantic life and mentioned two new people she is interested in.
Footage recorded by fans during the event was posted on Instagram on Sunday, showing Williams, who initiated divorce proceedings against Guobadia in February after a marriage of 15 months, addressing the audience. She explained, “I have narrowed it down to just two people for now, and he is very kind and she is wonderful.”
Her honest remarks elicited surprised reactions from the audience, which Williams laughed off before she continued speaking. “I really wanted to ensure these are normal individuals,” she said. “I spoke with my therapist recently, and shared that I'm finding it challenging to be open because they are not narcissistic. You know what narcissists do? They reflect you, but these individuals are different; they challenge me and ask questions, and they don’t let me walk all over them.”
News of Williams’ separation from Guobadia, who is 61, was reported on February 23, with a source informing People that their split was not connected to the issues stemming from Guobadia’s citizenship status. (Us Weekly confirmed on February 21 that Guobadia had been detained by ICE.)
It was later reported by Us that Guobadia, originally from Nigeria, was deported back to his homeland in June after spending several months in detention.
In a March confessional on RHOA, Williams reflected on the dramatic shift in her relationship with Guobadia during their short time together. “One of my pleasures was waking up each day thinking about how I could make [Simon] happy, and I truly believed he felt the same for me," Porsha revealed to the camera. “I would have followed this man anywhere, but the person I’m grieving now was not genuine.”
As their breakup unfolded, the dynamics between the former couple became increasingly complex. In July, Us reported exclusively that Guobadia had filed a federal lawsuit against Williams, seeking $500,000 in damages for alleged "reputation, emotional distress, and humiliation." Williams refuted these claims, and the legal conflict remains unresolved.
Additionally, Guobadia formally contested the initial divorce ruling, which granted Williams spousal support and several assets.
Last month, Williams marked a significant moment when her ex-husband's appeal against the divorce ruling was lost, as reported by Us on September 9. On the same day, she took to Instagram to declare, “It’s over,” without elaborating further; however, a video of her boarding a private jet was captioned “Free.”
During CultureCon, Williams shared her insights on her past relationship patterns, expressing her willingness to implement changes to seek happiness in the future. “In order to achieve different outcomes, I need to embrace a different approach,” she conveyed to the audience. “I need to be a little more gentle.”
