Justin Baldoni expresses a sense of “gratitude” as he navigates his legal issues with Blake Lively.

On Monday, September 29, the 41-year-old actor had a conversation with TMZ outside the Los Angeles International Airport, where a reporter pressed him with inquiries regarding his emotional state.

“I’m actually doing great,” Baldoni remarked, stating that he felt “very grateful,” “very positive” and was surrounded by “a lot of love.”

Upon the reporter's observation that he appears to be “taking the high road” in his dispute with Lively, 38, Baldoni responded, “that’s what we always aim to do.”

His remarks came two weeks after he had brought Alexandra Shapiro onto his legal team. Shapiro, a criminal defense attorney, has previously represented clients such as Sean “Diddy” Combs and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

Documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that on September 15, Shapiro submitted paperwork to the court signifying her role as legal counsel for Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios.

The legal conflict between Baldoni and Lively started in December 2024. The actress alleged that her It Ends With Us co-star and director sexually harassed her, fostered a hostile work environment, and collaborated with a crisis PR team to initiate a smear campaign against her. Baldoni has refuted these accusations.

In response, Baldoni filed a countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, alleging extortion and defamation; however, that suit was dismissed in June. Lively's lawsuit is currently still active, with both parties expected to go to trial in May 2026.

A representative for Baldoni stated over the summer, “The court's ruling on the motion to dismiss does not impact the truth that there was no harassment or smear campaign, and it does not affect our strong defense against Ms. Lively’s allegations. The discovery process is ongoing, and we are confident that we will triumph against these unfounded claims. Instead of altering the current allegations, our clients will explore additional legal avenues available to us.”

In July, Baldoni’s lawyers took Lively’s deposition in New York City, where Baldoni was also present.

“We are very satisfied with the results of her deposition and are now looking forward to deposing Justin Baldoni and the other co-defendants in the near future,” a spokesperson for Lively stated to Us at that time. “Deposition testimonies are kept confidential for valid reasons—they serve as evidence in a legal case and are regulated by objections and evidentiary standards. Juries do not simply receive deposition transcripts to read privately; they listen to testimonies presented during the trial under a judge's oversight.”

Earlier this month, another individual stepped forward with allegations against Baldoni. Based on court documents reviewed by Us, this unnamed individual accused him of verbal abuse and stated that he was not allowed on set for most of the production due to those incidents.

This individual may potentially serve as a witness in the upcoming trial involving Baldoni and Lively.
