Kieran Culkin’s spouse, Jazz Charton, is expecting the couple's third baby.
On September 28, for the opening night of the Broadway play Waiting for Godot in New York City, Culkin, aged 42, affectionately placed his hand on Charton’s abdomen as the pair posed for snapshots featured in People that evening.
Charton, 37, chose a fitted cream dress, while the Succession star wore a sweater paired with dark trousers.
The announcement of the pregnancy comes six months after Culkin openly expressed his desire for more children during his acceptance speech for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in the film A Real Pain. “Let’s start having those kids, what do you think? I love you,” he expressed towards his wife during the ceremony.
The couple, married since June 2013, are parents to two children: daughter Kinsey, born in September 2019, and son Wilder, who arrived in August 2021.
Culkin’s Oscar speech revisited an earlier public request to expand their family. “Please don’t play the music, as I want to share a very brief story about Jazz,” he began. “A year ago, I mentioned wanting a third child — because she said that if I won the [Emmy] award [for Succession], she would give me the child. It seems she thought that since I wouldn’t win, it was safe to say.”
As the audience chuckled, Culkin added, “People approached me and said, you know … it resonated with her. After the show, while walking through a parking lot, she was holding the Emmy and said, ‘Oh, gosh, I really did say that. I suppose I owe you a third child.’ I responded, saying, ‘Actually, I want four. And she replied, I will give you four when you win an Oscar.’ I extended my hand, she shook it, and I haven’t brought it up again until now.”
Turning to face Charton in the audience, he made his appeal. “Do you remember that, sweetheart? Then I need to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, with little faith, no pressure,” he said. “I love you. I sincerely apologize for bringing this up again.”
Culkin first crossed paths with Charton in a New York bar back in 2012, recalling their initial encounter during a 2021 talk with The Hollywood Reporter. “I introduced myself, ‘I’m Kieran. You have an English accent. What’s your name?’” Culkin recounted. “She replied, ‘I’m Jazz.’ I asked, ‘J-A-Z-Z, like the music?’ She confirmed, and I said, ‘Well, that’s f***ing stupid.’”
The couple tied the knot the following year, in June 2012, while on a road trip in Iowa.
