Andy Cohen and Carole Radziwill orchestrated an unexpected reunion that caught everyone off guard.
Cohen, 57, invited the former Real Housewives of New York City star to make a surprise appearance on the Monday, August 4 episode of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. Before Radziwill made her dramatic entrance, the host had guests Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers attempt to guess her identity as a Housewife. They confirmed she was part of the New York franchise just before the buzzer rang and Cohen revealed who she was.
“It’s Carole Radziwill!” he announced as the audience erupted with excitement alongside Yang, 34, and Rogers, 35, who exclaimed, “She’s one of my favorites!”
“Making a glorious comeback,” Cohen said, welcoming the 61-year-old Radziwill with open arms.
As she settled into her chair opposite him, Cohen inquired about which of her RHONY acquaintances she still connects with.
“Dorinda [Medley] and I have a mutual friend, so I do see her from time to time,” Radziwill explained, dressed in stylish black trousers and a crisp white blouse. She mentioned that Heather Thomson has moved to the Berkshires, and they meet a couple of times annually. Additionally, she recently encountered Ramona Singer and Luann de Lesseps at a party.
“I can’t quite remember, ‘Do we dislike each other? Are we okay?’” Radziwill recalled about their meeting. She approached Luann, 60, cautiously, uncertain of their status given their tumultuous past on the original RHONY. “We do slip back into that dynamic, I will say,” she confessed on Monday.
She also noted that whenever she's near her former co-star, “It’s as if I’m on the show once more.”
After her segment, Radziwill shared a video on Instagram, captioning it, “Honestly, it was such a blast to be in that wild clubhouse. … Of course @bravoandy was amazing, fun, and gracious with a beaming smile. Even though I’m notoriously NOT A HUGGER, that hug was the highlight. That’s all folks… no other reunions or appearances, but this one was worth all my nerves and butterflies.”
Behind the scenes, Radziwill and Cohen recently mended a friendship that had been strained since a 2018 RHONY reunion episode, in which she argued that he favored Bethenny Frankel over her. (Radziwill exited the show that year, concluding her six-season tenure.)
In June 2024, Cohen was featured in a profile for a New York magazine article. Within the piece, one former RHONY cast member, who opted to remain unnamed, lamented that the show “transitioned from light-hearted humor about middle-aged women enjoying drinks and being delusional about their status and engaging in amusing, petty disputes, to Housewives conducting investigations and doing opposition research, fabricating false narratives, leaking stories about one another, and attempting to get each other dismissed.”
Later, Cohen conjectured that the statement originated from Radziwill, stating, “There’s no doubt. It’s Carole without question. But it was so strange. I thought, ‘Carole has made several unflattering remarks about me that she has shared on Twitter and that have been cited.’ So, I wondered, ‘Why choose to go off the record now?’”
Radziwill responded to the speculation at the time through a post on X: “A person can offer a sincere observation, yet there’s always a shorter guy ready to take offense. At this point, what reason would anyone with a sound mind have to use their name? They are all so vengeful, which I think is the essence of the quote and is furthered by Andy’s harsh reply.”
However, by November, it appeared that Cohen and Radziwill had improved their relationship.
“We both realized that our conflicts were primarily influenced by the intense demands of the show and had little to do with our longstanding friendship,” Radziwill shared with People last fall. “Andy and I are very much aligned now, and I’m pleased about that.”
