Joe Jonas is candidly discussing his experience of coparenting with his former spouse, Sophie Turner.

“They have an amazing mom. I’m fortunate to have a wonderful coparenting relationship,” remarked Jonas, 35, regarding the upbringing of their daughters, Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2, with the actress known for Game of Thrones.

“Having an extraordinary mother like Sophie for those girls feels like a dream realized,” Jonas mentioned on Friday, May 23, during a conversation with podcaster and life coach Jay Shetty onstage at the Jay Shetty: On Purpose Live tour in Hollywood, Florida, as seen in social media clips.

The singer and actor expressed his aspirations for his daughters as they grow older. “I want them to look up to remarkable women as they grow. And I hope there are young men who will be protective of them,” he stated. “The values I wish for them are about being open-minded, having a generous spirit, and being able to enter any room with confidence, knowing they can achieve whatever they desire.”

Nevertheless, Jonas confessed he feels hesitant about his daughters potentially following in their parents’ high-profile careers. “For music or acting, we might hope they take their time,” he joked, continuing, “I want them to cultivate confidence in being their true selves and to feel they can thrive in a safe environment.”

Jonas and Turner, 29, were married in 2019 after three years of courting. They welcomed Willa as their first child in 2020, followed by Delphine in 2022.

In September 2023, Us Weekly confirmed that Jonas initiated divorce proceedings from Turner after four years of marriage. The couple later negotiated custody arrangements for their daughters but ultimately came to a settlement in September 2024, agreeing to share custody.

“Following a fruitful mediation, we have decided that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the U.K.,” the former couple shared in a joint statement with Us at that time. “We are eager to excel as coparents.”

Recently, Turner offered a glimpse into her amicable relationship with her ex by promoting Jonas’s latest album, Music for People Who Believe in Love.

“Go go @joejonas,” Turner posted through her Instagram Stories on Saturday, May 24, along with a Spotify link to the album. Since their separation, both Turner and Jonas have openly discussed their marriage and relationship.

“We experienced a wonderful relationship, though it came with its challenges,” Turner shared with Harper’s Bazaar last year. “I’m thrilled to be back. It felt like my life was on hold until I made my way back to England. I just don’t feel completely like myself when I’m not in London, surrounded by my friends and family. I was gone for such a long time — six years — during which my friends were getting engaged, and I became pregnant. Just the other day, I had dinner with someone, and she mentioned, ‘I never had the chance to touch your belly.’ We missed out on those significant moments together.”

Meanwhile, Jonas recently opened up about re-entering the dating scene after his divorce.

“At that time, I was seeing someone, and I was contemplating the idea of dating again. It felt really daunting and overwhelming,” Jonas said during a TalkShopLive stream on Wednesday, May 22, while talking about the creation of his new song “Only Love” from his recent solo album.

He further remarked, “Love can take many different forms, and I was in the process of re-exploring what that meant.”
