Jacob Elordi was involved in a heated exchange with an official from the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

Captured by a bystander who posted the interaction on TikTok on Sunday, August 31, Elordi, 28, was interacting with fans at the world premiere of his new film Frankenstein just a day earlier when the incident occurred.

The video starts with the Saltburn star talking closely with a man identified by the social media user as a “bodyguard,” before Elordi shifted to engage with the fans.

“I’m going to take a picture right here,” he then informed the festival personnel. He was seen posing for a snapshot with several fans before turning to the official again.

“Don't ever tell me what to do,” the video showed Elordi saying to the man.

Us Weekly has reached out to Elordi's representative for a statement.

The individual who uploaded the video did not allow the tense moment to overshadow their experience, captioning the clip, “And he was so nice, took photo[s] with everyone he can, he is so sexy and nice.”

An article from People on Sunday, August 31, noted that Elordi was "moved to tears" during the screening of Frankenstein at the Venice Film Festival, which received a standing ovation lasting 13 minutes, according to a report by Variety earlier that same day.

In this contemporary adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, Elordi plays the infamous creature, alongside Oscar Isaac, who takes on the role of Victor Frankenstein. Variety reported that the standing ovation was the "longest of the festival thus far."

This incident is not Elordi’s first public run-in with an official during promotional events. In February 2024, he faced an investigation in Australia after a radio producer alleged that the actor had pushed him and placed his hands around the producer’s throat.

The producer recounted his side of the story on The Kyle & Jackie O radio program on February 5, 2024, explaining that he had approached Elordi with a camera in a Sydney hotel two days prior, asking for some bathwater, in reference to a controversial scene from Saltburn.

The playful request reportedly upset Elordi, who asked the producer to stop filming, leading to a heated exchange.

The producer recounted on the radio show, “[I said] I refused to [fully delete the footage immediately] because I feel uncomfortable right now and this is the only evidence [of the encounter] and then Jacob kind of just flips his hands and pushes me against the wall and his hands are on my throat.”

Authorities from New South Wales informed Variety that inquiries regarding the incident were underway. “Investigators from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are looking into an alleged assault on a man outside a hotel located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. It was reported to the police around 3:30 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2024, that a 32-year-old man was reportedly attacked by a 26-year-old man. The victim did not suffer any injuries,” the statement provided to the publication stated.

Elordi has not made any public remarks regarding the incident.
