The finale of the reality dating series aired on Sunday, June 15, featuring Luann, aged 60, concluding her journey with suitor James Quine, who is 62. Mere weeks prior, however, Luann ignited rumors of an engagement when she was seen wearing a diamond ring on her left hand and displaying affection with an unidentified man in the Hamptons.
When questioned by Us Weekly about the source of the ring, Luann maintained an air of mystery. “I can say that I've received a brand new ring, and I’m a very happy girl,” she shared with Us. “That’s all I’m able to reveal about it for now.”
During the Sunday segment of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Luann elaborated on the details of her new jewelry, clarifying that it was not a gift from James. “It’s an aquamarine [ring]. It was given to me by one of my admirers, that’s all I can share,” she stated, indicating that this suitor is not her Love Hotel co-star. “The key is from James,” she noted, gesturing to a gold necklace featuring a key pendant.
When Andy Cohen inquired about the reason she was sporting the ring on her wedding finger, the former Real Housewives of New York City star mentioned, “it doesn’t fit this one,” as she referred to her right hand.
Luann mentioned that James supports her desire to explore other dating possibilities.
“What I appreciate about James,” Luann expressed to Cohen, “is that he told me, ‘You know, Lu, I live in Hawaii, I can’t be there with you all the time. It’s completely fine if you go out with others, and when we meet up, we will, because I love you, Lu.’”
She conveyed that she is attracted to James’ zest for life, saying, “I feel like a 9-year-old girl when I’m with him,” and noted that he embraces his youthful spirit.
The two connected on Love Hotel over their shared elite backgrounds. James mentioned that his stepmother was a close friend of Princess Grace of Monaco, while Luann was previously married to Count Alexandre de Lesseps.
“My father-in-law served as the ambassador of Monaco for 40 years, and his stepmother was Grace Kelly’s best friend,” Luann explained during Sunday’s Watch What Happens Live, referring to Count Alexandre's father. “They were both present at the wedding of Rainier and Princess Grace. That’s how we found common ground.”
Since joining The Real Housewives of New York City, Luann’s romantic encounters have unfolded for the public to see, as she starred from seasons 1 to 13. Her marriage to Count Alexandre lasted from 1993 to 2009, and she wed Tom D’Agostino Jr. in 2016, only to separate in 2017.
