YouTube and TikTok Star Alysha Burney Dies at 25 While Vacationing in Mexico

YouTube and TikTok content creator Alysha Burney passed away while on vacation with family in Mexico. She was just 25 years old.

Her brother, Charles Burney, confirmed the tragic news to Kansas City's Fox 4 on Monday, March 10. As reported by Charles, Alysha peacefully passed away during her sleep on March 2 while celebrating her birthday in Cabo San Lucas.

“She generously shared her experiences and was very open about her journey. She will always be deeply cherished, and her legacy will endure for eternity,” he shared with the news outlet. “Alysha was incredibly driven, imaginative, and passionate about giving back. She earned a bachelor's degree in digital media production and was pursuing her graduate studies.”

Charles further addressed various rumors regarding Alysha’s passing, revealing to Fox 4 that his sister succumbed to an asthma attack. “She did not use drugs. She was a joyful, self-loving person who valued her life and anticipated the plans for the coming year,” he expressed, emphasizing that he was present at her side when she passed away. “She was an exceptionally classy young woman. There's a lot of misinformation circulating online, based on unfounded speculation. Such sources lack credibility and should not be trusted. My sister avoided situations that could have led to this.”

Charles also honored his sister on Instagram, posting a photo of her on a balcony in a stunning purple evening gown.

“It is with profound sadness that I announce my little sister Alysha Burney has passed away. PLEASE provide our family with space to mourn at this time,” he stated on Monday. “It’s incredibly painful to witness the false narratives tarnishing her legacy, and we are prepared to take legal action against those perpetuating incorrect information about her death. We know many people cared for her and will share more details soon, but we ask for patience and to stop harassing the family ❤️ Her legacy will endure FOREVER!!”

Alysha, who started her YouTube journey in 2013, gained recognition for her comedic content, particularly for her widely popular “Online Classes Be Like Series.” She amassed over 1.27 million subscribers on the platform and had more than 2.5 million followers on TikTok.

According to Charles, Alysha had aspirations to work behind the scenes in the industry.

“Her ultimate dream was to become a writer and director,” he mentioned to Fox 4. “Another ambition of hers was to return to Kansas City, establish a production studio, and support other young creatives from Kansas City in achieving their goals.”
