Colman Domingo is elaborating on his response to Jeff Hiller’s triumph at the Emmy Awards held on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Hiller, aged 49, secured the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in Somebody Somewhere, competing against Domingo, who is 55, alongside Harrison Ford from Shrinking, Michael Urie of The Studio, Ike Barinholtz, Ebon Moss-Bachrach from The Bear, and Bowen Yang from Saturday Night Live.
As Hiller's name was announced on Sunday, the expressions of surprise on Domingo, Urie, and Yang's faces quickly shifted to enthusiastic applause and cheers for Hiller, as highlighted by a viewer on X.
Responding to the post on X late Sunday, Domingo stated, “In fact, we are all responding affectionately to our fellow colleague who truly deserves immense recognition. He is a treasure. Well done, Jeff!”
Hiller celebrated his first Emmy win on Sunday for portraying Joel in HBO’s acclaimed comedy Somebody Somewhere.
During his acceptance speech, the comedian shared, “I feel like I might cry because for the past 25 years, I’ve been saying, ‘World, I yearn to be an actor,’ and the world replied, ‘Maybe try computers,’” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Hiller expressed gratitude to his spouse, artist Neil Goldberg, and his co-star Bridget Everett, who plays Sam Miller, the lead character in Somebody Somewhere.
“I’m thankful for my dear husband and my family for always believing in me. Most importantly, thank you, Bridget Everett. You've profoundly altered my life and have inspired countless others to trust in themselves, and they do,” he remarked.
Hiller was among a number of Emmy winners celebrating their first victories on that evening. Other inaugural winners included Owen Cooper from Adolescence, who became the youngest male Emmy recipient at just 15 years old. Britt Lower from Severance won her first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while her co-star Tramell Tillman made history as the first Black actor to take home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa from The Pitt also received their first Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, respectively. This recognition marked Wyle's initial Emmy win after five nominations for his portrayal of Dr. John Carter on the iconic medical drama ER.
The Studio led the night with the highest number of accolades, claiming 13 awards, followed by The Penguin with nine awards, and both Adolescence and Severance each securing eight Emmys.
