Clarkson, aged 43, spoke openly about the challenges of dating while on stage at the Colosseum in Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace over the weekend, continuing her “Studio Sessions” residency.

During a break between performances of her beloved hits, the “Since U Been Gone” artist shared her feelings about singlehood with the audience.

“Dating is tough, which is exactly why I don’t engage in it,” Clarkson was recorded saying to the fans, as seen in footage shared on TikTok Sunday, July 20. “It’s challenging as it is, and when you add a spotlight, it becomes like a … dumpster fire.”

Her candid comment followed her announcement on the May 6 episode of Today With Jenna and Friends, where she disclosed to host Jenna Bush Hager, also 43, that she is “not looking” for a relationship while being “very busy.”

Additionally, the singer recently humorously reflected on her past unsuccessful relationships during a performance on May 9 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, seemingly contemplating her marriage to ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. “We learn from our parents, and they learn from theirs. We end up repeating the same terrible patterns endlessly,” she shared with fans at that time. “Turns out, I chose the same damn path.”

Clarkson was married to her former manager, age 48, from 2013 to 2020, during which they welcomed a daughter named River Rose, 11, and a son named Remington, 9. She filed for divorce in June 2020, and the couple reached a settlement in 2022, granting Clarkson full primary custody and relocating to New York City with her children.

She reflected on this experience in an interview with USA Today in October 2023. “I thought I was making a terrible decision,” she told the publication at that time. “I realized I needed a new beginning and couldn't stay in L.A. My desire was to be in Montana, but it’s not feasible to host a show from there yet. So, I thought, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.’”

Her dating life wasn’t the only subject she addressed with fans over the weekend. She also mentioned fellow artist Taylor Swift, indicating that Swift, aged 35, has a unique level of success. “When you’re on tour, you have to transport everything in trucks, and that comes at a cost,” Clarkson stated, based on social media clips. “You can’t afford to bring seven guitars onstage because that wouldn’t be profitable. Unless you’re Taylor Swift, then you can do whatever you want. For the rest of us, it simply doesn’t work that way.”
