On Monday, June 9, WWE wrestler Morgan criticized her opponent Nikki Garcia in the ring as Garcia made her comeback to Monday Night Raw.

The situation escalated when Nikki, who is 41, entered to promote the Evolution 2 PLE, an all-female wrestling event set for July 13 in Atlanta. She commended the current WWE roster, which provoked an irritated Morgan to rush into the ring and confront her.

“Listen up, Nikki! You’re fortunate,” Morgan, age 31, taunted. “You’re fortunate I wasn’t there during your heyday, because I would have been the champion and defeated you back then as well.”

While Nikki smiled and absorbed the criticism, Morgan pressed on: “As I speak, it hits me why you didn’t mention me. You didn’t bring me up because you’re envious of me. You’re green with envy because I possess everything you lack: respect, a Championship, and a partner!”

Earlier in the match, Roxanne Perez had eliminated Morgan in the opening round. Nikki reminded Morgan of this loss, which prompted Morgan to execute her finishing move, The ObLivion, on Nikki — hinting at a potential confrontation between the two in Evolution 2 PLE.

Nikki, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020, made an unexpected return to the organization during the 2025 women’s Royal Rumble match in February, where she went up against Nia Jax, who ultimately eliminated her.

This match marked Nikki's first in-ring appearance since participating in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match. She and her twin sister, Brie Garcia, officially stepped away from full-time wrestling in 2019.

In January, Nikki expressed to Us Weekly her feelings of inspiration to return to WWE.

“I’ve missed it for several years,” Nikki shared after her appearance at Raw's Netflix debut. “I miss being Nikki Bella. I miss being part of that family. I certainly miss being in that ring. When I was placed in the audience that night and felt the electrifying energy and saw the Bella Army, whether they were present or online, it started to evoke these emotions in me.”

Nikki added, “Returning to WWE, I don’t think people realize, I began my journey at 22. That’s all I knew until recently. … The women’s locker room was just fantastic. Everyone was so wonderful, united, and the happiness backstage was palpable.”

She shares a four-year-old son, Matteo, with her ex-husband, Artem Chigvintsev. In August 2024, she initiated divorce proceedings after he was charged with felony domestic violence related to an alleged altercation between them. The charges were later dismissed, and the couple reached a settlement three months afterward.

Nikki disclosed on a May episode of “The Nikki & Brie Show” podcast that she and Chigvintsev “are currently in a wonderful place.”

“We are coparenting splendidly, which makes Matteo’s life exceptional, and I wouldn’t want it any other way,” she said.
