A spokesperson for Justin Bieber has addressed growing worries regarding the singer's health.
The representative informed TMZ on Sunday, February 23, that the rumors circulating about Bieber's use of hard drugs are “completely unfounded,” describing the speculation as “exhausting and pitiful.” According to the representative, discussions regarding Bieber's mental health “indicate that, in spite of the clear truth, individuals are intent on perpetuating negative, scandalous, and damaging stories.”
The past year has been “highly transformative” for Bieber, who “terminated several close friendships and business associations that no longer benefited him.”
An insider recently shared with Us Weekly that Bieber, 30, is “happier than he has been in a long while,” even though his recent behavior and outings have raised concerns. “There’s no breakdown,” the source emphasized, mentioning that the pop star “simply doesn’t care about others’ opinions.”
In January, Justin first drew attention when observant fans realized he had unfollowed his wife, Hailey Bieber, on Instagram. However, the Rhode founder, aged 28, was still following him. (The couple has been married since 2018 and welcomed their son, Jack Blues, the previous year.)
As news of this social media interaction made waves, Justin clarified the situation through his Instagram Story. “Someone accessed my account and unfollowed my wife,” he asserted. “Things are getting suspicious out here.”
Since then, Justin has been seen casually dressed in sweats and was even noticed leaving a spa without a shirt. “He’s just being authentic and doesn’t feel the need to present a polished image just to please the public,” the source mentioned to Us this month.
After achieving fame as a teenage idol, Justin has navigated a series of highs and lows in the public eye. He has openly discussed his struggles with mental health, revealing to Vogue in February 2019 that he “experienced significant depression” during his Purpose tour and resorted to using Xanax.
“Drugs created a barrier between me and my actions. It became quite dark,” he admitted. “I think there were moments when my security had to come in late at night to check my pulse and see if I was still alive.”
A source indicated at that time that Justin sought help from a therapist, adding, “He aims to avoid dependency on medication. He battles fluctuations in mood, anxiety, depression, and uncertainty regarding the future.”
Hailey, for her part, has remained supportive of her husband. “I just wanted him to be happy, healthy, safe, and experience joy,” she disclosed to Vogue. “I’m incredibly proud of him. To do this without a program and to remain committed without a sober coach, AA, or classes — I believe it’s remarkable. He truly is, in many respects, a walking miracle.”
