August 2026 Losses
Ben Jones
Ben Jones, the actor and former U.S. Congressman best remembered for his role as the lovable mechanic Cooter Davenport on CBS’s hit action-comedy series The Dukes of Hazzard, died on August 9 following a massive heart attack. He was 84.
His wife of nearly 34 years, Alma Viator, shared the news in a heartfelt post on Facebook. "I lost the love of my life today. Ben passed from a massive heart attack. He was home resting in his favorite chair waiting for the Braves to come on and whoop the Yankees," Viator wrote. "Ben had the most amazing, rich, full life. He loved and was loved by so many."
Matt McQuillan
Former PGA Tour golfer Matt McQuillan passed away on August 5 at age 45. Surrounded by family at Kingston General Hospital, the Canadian athlete was remembered in an obituary as a "respected golfer, devoted son, hilarious brother and friend."
Allan Nascimento
Flyweight UFC contender Allan Nascimento died on August 3 after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep, according to an official announcement from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Brazilian mixed martial artist was 34 years old.
Vincent Pastore
Veteran character actor Vincent Pastore, best known for portraying Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on HBO’s critically acclaimed drama The Sopranos, was found dead in his Bronx residence on August 1. He was 80 years old. Law enforcement officials suspect the actor died of natural causes.
Former co-star Michael Imperioli paid tribute on Instagram, writing, "Vinny was a kind-hearted brother who cared deeply about his family and friends. I will miss him always."
July 2026 Losses
Scott Hylands
Canadian screen actor Scott Hylands, who starred as Detective Kevin O'Brien on the 1980s police drama Night Heat, passed away on July 29 at the age of 83. His son confirmed the loss on social media, describing his father as his "forever hero and best friend."
Chuck Russell
Film director Chuck Russell, who helmed blockbuster hits including The Mask, Eraser, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, died unexpectedly on July 22.
Jordan Devey
Former NFL offensive lineman Jordan Devey, who won Super Bowl XLIX during his tenure with the New England Patriots, died in late July. His family confirmed his passing on July 23.
Sam Neill
Internationally acclaimed actor Sam Neill, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park franchise and his roles in Peaky Blinders and The Piano, passed away on July 13 at age 78.
In a statement shared via Instagram, his family confirmed that Neill passed away peacefully in Sydney, Australia, surrounded by loved ones. Although Neill had previously undergone treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, his family noted that he remained cancer-free at the time of his sudden passing.

G.R.L. & Music Losses: Pop singer Lauren Bennett, former member of girl group G.R.L., died at age 37, while iconic Welsh vocalist Bonnie Tyler passed away at 75.
Louise Lasser: The Emmy-nominated star of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman died at 87.

Legendary music executive Clive Davis—the visionary industry titan who launched the careers of Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin, and Alicia Keys—died in June at age 94 following a hospitalization for an upper respiratory infection.
Anne Schedeen
Actress Anne Schedeen, beloved by television audiences for her role as matriarch Kate Tanner on the hit 1980s NBC sitcom ALF, passed away peacefully on June 14 at age 77.
"She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of creative energy, whip-smart humor, delight in her family, adoration for little dogs... and love for a good story," her family shared in a statement.
Victor Willis & Joby Baker
June also saw the passing of original Village People lead singer and lyricist Victor Willis, as well as veteran film and television actor Joby Baker, who died at age 92.
Mary Rivera
Character actress Mary Rivera, remembered by modern cinema audiences for playing Ned Leeds' grandmother in Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home, passed away in April at age 82.
