Hilary Duff has shared insights regarding her family during her ongoing estrangement from her sister, Haylie Duff.
"Oh my god, [we're] as chaotic as ever but the best,” Hilary, 38, stated during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, March 9. “We’re having a great time.”
While Hilary did not specifically address the issues with her sister, she did discuss her four children while promoting her sixth studio album, titled Luck… or Something, in an interview with host Jimmy Fallon. (The “Roommates” artist has a son named Luca with her ex-husband Mike Comrie, as well as three daughters — Banks, Mae, and Townes — with her second spouse, Matthew Koma.)
“We’ve got quite an age range. We have a teenager [Luca], a 2-year-old [Townes], and two in the middle, so there’s a lot going on. It depends on the time of day, really,” she shared with Fallon. “In the mornings, we dive deep into Bluey. It’s such a wonderful show. Honestly, I sometimes think it’s calming for our teenager. He really gets fascinated by it. I get it; it’s peaceful.”
Hilary mentioned that she’s not particularly fond of Peppa Pig, playfully noting that the animated series can “really get under my skin.”
“It’s not that it’s an unkind show,” she clarified.
When Fallon pointed out that “everyone in [Hilary’s] family are musicians,” he specifically referred just to Hilary and her husband, Koma. (Haylie has released multiple tracks since the early 2000s, including collaborations with Hilary.)
“[My kids] aren’t prodigies, by any means,” she joked. “They can definitely vibe to some Katseye and some KPop Demon Hunters.”
When asked if Hilary's children listen to her music, she affirmed, “They really love my songs! It’s quite sweet.”
Although Hilary did not delve into her relationship with Haylie during her time on The Tonight Show, she did recently reveal that her song “We Don’t Talk,” which is set for release in 2026, addresses their conflict.
“Absolutely, the loneliest part of my life right now is not having my sister around,” Hilary shared with CBS Mornings in February 2026. “That’s my truth, and many others are going through similar situations. It’s challenging because I am who I am, and my life has been public since I was young. I didn’t choose that aspect, but it’s my reality. Honestly, it felt quite healing to express that.”
In the same interview, she emphasized that writing about her experiences allows her to “simply exist as an individual and pursue what I want to pursue.”
“I hope that everyone finds themselves in that position,” Hilary articulated. “You must do what you want and what feels right for you. It has taken me quite a while to reach this point and to live authentically without worrying about the surrounding noise and just being myself.”
Recently, Hilary shared insights on the podcast “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” regarding the support she has encountered since acknowledging her estrangement from Haylie.
“My sister and I are not in contact. In my adult life, I’ve encountered a growing number of individuals who are experiencing something similar,” she remarked this month. “Although it’s difficult to discuss, when I made the decision to create this album, I could only express the experiences I have faced.”
Hilary continued, “I wish for it not to last indefinitely, but that is the situation for the moment.” https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/hilary-duff-says-family-is-chaotic-amid-haylie-duff-rift/
