The pair discreetly exchanged vows during a brief 20-minute ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this year, as Windey revealed in a Cosmopolitan interview published on Wednesday, March 5.
“We had just evacuated from the fires. Literally cue Rihanna, ‘We found love in a hopeless place,’” Windey, 34, shared with the magazine. “What better moment to get married than now? Because if the world is coming to an end, we want to be with each other.”
On January 8, Windey disclosed that she and Hoffman, 35, had to leave their residence in L.A. due to the wildfires in Pacific Palisades. They made their way to Las Vegas, where they checked into a hotel that resembled a wedding suite — which sparked the idea. Hoffman already had intentions “to propose in six months,” Windey noted, which made them act sooner.
“Gabby turned to me and said, ‘Should we get married?’ And let me tell you, I’d been ready to propose since the moment I met her,” Hoffman stated. “We arrived at this room that felt like something out of a mafia film, with 12-foot ceilings and a separate bedroom from the living area, that sort of hotel. We were like, ‘Whoa.’ Then Gabby floated the idea of getting married.”
Windey mentioned, “It was satisfying, being my suggestion. Robby was literally poised to propose just three weeks after we met, and I’m often the one holding back, but when it feels right, it feels right. I believe it was preferable for both of us that it originated from me.”
Hoffman elaborated that it “felt appropriate” to have an intimate wedding after having their relationship in the spotlight.
The former Bachelorette revealed in August 2023 that she had been seeing the comedian for the previous three months. “I’m in a relationship like I’ve never experienced before,” Windey expressed in an Instagram Story video at that time. “But I wanted to share this with you all because I always aim to live my life authentically and keep you along for the journey.”
Earlier that day, Windey shared her relationship status during a segment on The View, where she admitted she had previously sensed a “whisper” about being attracted to women, which had grown “louder and louder” over the years.
“I hadn’t really realized I needed to acknowledge it,” she explained. “I believe when this occurs, there is obviously some shame involved, so I needed to navigate through that a bit. What is it? Where is it stemming from? Ultimately, as I’ve mentioned, I just want to be true to myself, do what I desire, and figure it out as I go.”
When asked about the possibility of continuing to date women exclusively in the future, Windey hinted at Hoffman’s long-term prospects. “I think so. I feel like she’s my girl,” she enthused. “She’s the best.”
Windey mentioned that with Hoffman, she could "envision the future" in a manner that had eluded her in past relationships. "She is incredibly unique. Being with her makes me feel secure and cherished," she expressed enthusiastically. "It’s the kind of love I had always sought while participating in these dating shows, so now it feels like, 'Yes, this is it.'"
The next month, Hoffman shared her experience of meeting Windey for the first time outside a bar. After obtaining Windey's phone number, Hoffman promptly contacted her to arrange a date. "I returned home, reviewed my schedule, and messaged her that very night. I said, 'Let’s go out for dinner a week from Monday at 7 p.m. I'll pick you up.' She responded with, 'Can’t wait,'" Hoffman recounted on her “Too Far” podcast. "And the weekend prior, I double-checked and reminded her, 'Just so you know, let’s not have any fun this weekend. The real excitement begins on Monday!' … [Windey responded, 'I] wouldn't even think of having fun before Monday.'”
