Grammys Producer Weighs In on Bianca Censori’s Naked Dress: ‘We Have to Adhere to Standards’

An executive producer of the Grammys has commented on the debated red carpet look of Bianca Censori during the awards held on Sunday, February 2.

Raj Kapoor, who oversaw the production of the broadcast, shared in an interview with People released on Tuesday, February 4, that the dress code established by the Recording Academy stipulates an “artistic black-tie” requirement, but noted that “in the music industry, that can be interpreted in various ways.”

“There are certainly guidelines in place for those who perform during the show, and we must comply with standards and practices. However, for attendees and nominees, that is a matter for the [Recording] Academy to address,” he remarked.

Kanye West, 47, and his model spouse, 30, attracted attention at the Grammys when she showcased a fully sheer dress on the red carpet. Kapoor mentioned to People on Tuesday that the duo did not have designated seats at the ceremony, even though West was nominated for Best Rap Song for “Carnival” from his Vultures 1 album.

“To my knowledge, they were present for the red carpet,” Kapoor stated. “I’m unsure if he attended the Pre-Tel at the Peacock Theater before the main event.”

Initially, there were claims that the couple had been removed from the function due to the provocative clothing choices, but a source later clarified to Us Weekly that they had “departed voluntarily.”

“He is an expert at publicity stunts,” the insider disclosed to Us. “He understands how to remain relevant.” The source highlighted that West “knows exactly what to do” concerning his vision. “He is in control, directing the attention to himself.”

“He was credentialed and welcomed at the red carpet. His intention was to make an impact and capture attention as that is part of his identity, before heading off to his after-party,” the insider explained further. “He was not expelled; he aimed to create a buzz and then attended his post-event party. He had no plans to remain at the Grammys.”

Following their exit from the Sunday event, West and Censori continued the evening, embracing the moment at a Grammys after-party where the model donned a second outfit, a revealing mesh bodysuit.

On Tuesday, West spoke about his wife’s red carpet attire. “Ask me how it felt to surpass the Grammys,” he told photographers as he arrived at a recording studio with Censori, according to TMZ. “We exceeded the Grammys.”
