The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, said on the Monday, January 13, episode of ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show that he has a “few scenes” in the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy and that filming was a “hefty load” of work.
“That was a dream come true. I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain,” he added, per Variety.
Kelce shared that acting alongside Sandler was not dissimilar from working with Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
“They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the [Kansas City Chiefs’ coach] Andy Reid of the acting world,” he said. “[Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.”
The NFL star publicly lobbied for a role in the comedy sequel during a May 2024 episode of his and his brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.

Kelce added that he’s a “huge fan of the Sandman” and would jump at the opportunity to appear in a movie with Sandler, but said ultimately it was all “a conspiracy theory.”
“I’ll be a f—ing extra… anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set — count me in,” he added. “I’ll do anything in the movie. I’ll be part of it any way I possibly can.”
“Travis has … he mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis,” Sandler, 58, said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The actor gushed over Kelce, adding, “He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
Happy Gilmore 2 is set for release on Netflix later this year. As well as Kelce, rapper Eminem and WWE star Becky Lynch are also set for cameos
