Hailee Steinfeld Named ‘Queen’ of Buffalo on Billboard Celebrating Josh Allen Engagement

A new billboard in Buffalo, New York, congratulated Steinfeld, 28, and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on their recent engagement by declaring the pair the city’s king and queen. “The Queen City has a new queen,” the billboard read, according to an X photo shared by CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson on Sunday, January 12. “Congratulations, Josh and Hailee.”

The billboard featured illustrated photos of Steinfeld and Allen, 28, as queen and king playing cards. Steinfeld’s caricature sported a crown and flashed an engagement ring, while Allen’s playing card featured his jersey No. 17 and a helmet.
The billboard seemingly went up in celebration of the Bills’ playoff game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Steinfeld was in attendance at the game, which the Bills won with a score of 31-7. Backup quarterback Shane Buechele’s wife, Paige Buechele, reposted an Instagram Story video of the women watching the game with Tayler Bernard, the wife of Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard, and Hailee Watson.
Steinfeld and Allen announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post in November 2024. The post — captioned “♾️ 11•22•24 ♾️” — featured a snap of Allen’s proposal, which took place in front of a picturesque beach sunset, underneath a gorgeous floral archway and surrounded by candles.

Allen later admitted in a December 2024 edition of Steinfeld’s “Beau Society” newsletter that he was “very nervous” to pop the question. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you,” he noted. “Then, multiple times throughout the day a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”
Sharing more details of their special moment, Allen added, “I said, ‘I couldn’t wait any longer.’ I said, ‘I can’t wait to start a family with you.’ I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please.”

Allen said Steinfeld was “extremely surprised” by the proposal, gushing, “It feels unbelievable to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy.”
Steinfeld and Allen started dating shortly after the athlete split from his ex-girlfriend Brittany Williams in April 2023. “Hailee and Josh have been together for about a month and it’s going really great,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2023. “[They] laugh a ton when they’re together [and] are always smiling.”
The pair didn’t go Instagram official until July 2024 when Allen shared several snaps of himself and Steinfeld in an Instagram carousel, which he captioned, “Onward 🤘🏼.”
One month before their engagement, the duo wore matching ringmaster costumes to host a Halloween bash for Allen’s Bills teammates and their significant others. “Welcome to Josh & Hailee’s Circus Showdown,” read a sign inside the venue featured in social media posts from the event.
