It takes an incredibly courageous individual to inquire about a woman's age, particularly if she is a Hollywood star, but Bradley Cooper certainly embodies that bravery: he naively questioned Amy Schumer if she had reached 50 yet!
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 28, Schumer, who is in fact only 43, shared that she had encountered the actor earlier that week. “I bumped into him, and you know how it goes, ‘how are you?’ He mentioned, ‘You know, I turned 50 this year,’ and then he asked, ‘You 50?’,” she recounted. “I attempted to bounce back — since I’m 43 — and said, ‘I will be 50! But I’m not 50 yet! Nope, I’m not, Bradley, but thanks for considering me!’”
Undoubtedly, reaching 50 isn’t a negative thing — Cooper celebrated his milestone birthday not long ago, on January 5 — but being in your early forties makes that kind of question sting a bit. Schumer, who is currently promoting her latest Netflix film Kinda Pregnant, remarked: “Let’s be honest, we all want to appear attractive. People go to great lengths to look good. This illustrates how far people are willing to go: people literally run!”
It appears Schumer has her share of awkward moments: she also mentioned to Fallon that she is often confused for other comedic actresses like Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson by fans — yet it doesn’t bother her at all. “And I consider myself lucky,” she noted. “I don’t correct them. I just say, ‘Yeah, Bridesmaids changed my life.’”
Schumer and Cooper have a lengthy history — she has openly shared her overwhelming crush on the charming actor. In a previous discussion with Jimmy Fallon back in 2015, she remarked that Cooper possesses a level of attractiveness that makes you feel like saying things you don’t really mean, stating, “You just grab your ankles. You’d casually say, ‘any hole’s fine’.”
She humorously added that after a half-hour chat with Cooper, she felt “pretty sure” they were in a relationship. “I updated my Facebook status from ‘it’s complicated’ to ‘I’m engaged to Bradley Cooper!’” she laughed.
In that same 2015 interview, she revealed that Cooper is quite aware of the infatuation. “I’m always teasing him,” she confessed. “Talking to someone that good-looking makes me feel very uneasy. He’s so charismatic and looks directly into your eyes while asking questions, which is something no man typically does.”
However, she likely didn’t foresee that a decade later, one of those inquiries would pertain to her age. The only question we have is: when Schumer eventually turns 50 in June 2031, will Cooper be on the guest list?
