“I’m starting Ozempic, and I couldn’t be more thrilled,” the 39-year-old former actress disclosed in an Instagram Story video update on Sunday, June 22. “Currently, I weigh 173 [pounds], and I’m aiming to reach 130, which would be amazing.”

Bynes mentioned that she is trying out a weight loss medication “so that I can look better in photos taken by paparazzi and to avoid showcasing my double chin from odd angles,” committing to provide more updates about her “Ozempic journey.”

Ozempic is a brand name for semaglutide, a medication classified as GLP-1, initially created to enhance glycemic control in those with type 2 diabetes. In recent years, semaglutide has gained usage as a prescription for individuals facing weight challenges in order to improve their overall health.

Bynes shared details about her weight loss journey back in November 2024 through her Instagram Story, explicitly stating her weight at that moment.

“Lost 6 lbs! I weigh 154 lbs now 😱,” Bynes captioned a screenshot displaying her step count for the day, also indicating that she had burned “481/320 CAL” that day and had walked a total of 6.60 miles. Her step count reached 14,895 with her flight count being 12.

Thanks to the former child star’s dedication to fitness, her exercise objectives for the day were officially achieved, as confirmed by the large red circle featured at the top of the screenshot.

Following the Instagram Story, Bynes posted a video of herself strolling down the street, sporting dark sunglasses and a black beanie, which appeared to highlight her daily fitness accomplishments.

This health update followed Bynes’ admission in March 2024 about how her mental health battles affected her weight. She shared through Instagram Stories that she had “gained over 20 lbs” over several months “due to feelings of depression.” She expressed, “I’m feeling much better now and have learned to engage in opposite actions when I’m not inclined to work out or eat healthily.”

Bynes also shared in her post that her weight stood at “162 lbs” at that time and expressed her desire “to get back to 110 lbs.”
