“They are getting along well and everyone seems to be very happy,” a source close to Simpson exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “They talk and see each other all the time and have decided that no matter what happens, they will get along for the kids.”

Simpson, 44, and Johnson, 45, were married 10 years before the singer announced their separation in January. The estranged couple share three children, Maxwell, 13, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 6.

While Simpson and the retired NFL player have yet to officially file for divorce the insider tells Us, “Right now there is no talk of getting back together.”

The source notes that with Simpson and Johnson “you never know” what could happen. “They love each other and will always be supportive of one another,” the insider adds.

“For now, Jessica and Eric will be at a lot of holidays and birthdays together and just navigating their new truth,” according to the source.

Simpson and Johnson’s breakup might be fresh for fans, but split rumors began swirling in November 2024. At the time, Simpson was teasing her new music and revealed via Instagram, “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤.”

The comment raised eyebrows among Simpson’s followers, many of whom began to theorize that her remarks were about her and Johnson’s marriage.

While Jessica’s sister, Ashlee Simpson, shut down the breakup rumors that month, Jessica continued to fuel speculation by not wearing her wedding ring on multiple occasions.

Jessica confirmed her split in January, telling Us in a statement, “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”

She continued: “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”

The following month, Ashlee, 40, reacted to her sister’s divorce news — and Jessica’s choice to return to music — exclusively telling Us that Jessica is in “the best, best spirits.”

“We are strong little ladies, and, you know, I think that’s a cool thing about life is just always growing and finding yourself, wherever that’s supposed to be,” Ashlee said in February.

“I am now a very single lady,” she told a crowd of fans during her March 14 set at the Luck Reunion festival in Texas.

As Jessica continues to focus on her music career comeback — including an upcoming tour that’s in the works — she’s not ruling out a new romance.

“She is open to dating, and her friends wouldn’t be surprised if she starts seeing someone soon,” the first source exclusively tells Us. “She looks the best she’s looked, feels great about herself and is happy.”
