Dorit Kemsley made an eyebrow-raising comment about never settling in a relationship just before she and PK Kemsley filed for divorce.

“I need to help the ladies in the world,” Dorit, 48, told Rollercoaster magazine in an interview published earlier this month. “Top tip, definitely don’t settle for anything less than someone treating you right.”

She continued: “Don’t be in a rush. Be yourself. If it’s not the right fit, if he doesn’t like you even when you’re at your worst, you don’t want it. Move on, it’s not sustainable if you’re not your complete self.”

Dorit and husband PK, 57, separated in May 2024 after nine years of marriage. Bravo fans were initially shocked by the decision, but The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 (which concluded on April 15) offered more details about their decision to split.

The tension between Dorit and PK was obvious as she called him a “full-blown alcoholic” and questioned his parenting skills on the show. It was further hinted that the end was near when PK declined to appear on the RHOBH reunion and share his side of the story.

Then, on Thursday, April 24, PK was photographed kissing The Amazing Race alum Shana Wall. The following day, Us Weekly confirmed that Dorit had officially filed for divorce.

Court documents obtained by Us revealed that Dorit cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. Dorit is asking for sole legal and physical custody of their two children — son Jagger, 11, and daughter Phoenix, 9 — and requested spousal support.

Dorit and PK met in 2011 and got married in March 2015. Their separation announcement revealed that they had faced several “struggles” in their relationship, which is what led to their decision to split.

“To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our children we have made the mutual and difficult decision to take some time apart and reevaluate our relationship while we prioritize our children,” last year’s joint statement read. “We appreciate your love and support while we continue to do the work necessary throughout this journey.”

“I literally just found out online like everyone else, maybe an hour ago, and, obviously, I reached out to her,” Erika said at the opening of The Tryst Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. “She’s got more important things to do than to talk to me right now.”

She added, “How does anybody feel when they hear that a family’s broken up? You feel badly. This is sad. It’s a sad thing.”
